Hotstar App Download For Laptop
It's full of bugs.
The previous version were so good. I've faced following issues:
1. Sometimes selection of video quality doesn't work. I tap on 'settings button' while video is playing. And the menu pops up. Then tap on 'Video Quality' and menu just hoes away. Nothing happens.
2. Video automatically switches between 180p, 360p and maybe even 720p even when 'Auto' is not selected.
3. Seek bar doesn't work the way its supposed to. When I scroll it to some other point it always jumps to different position.
4. This version has got some issues with internet connection. There always seems some issue with internet connection because sometimes there is lag between video and audio. Sometimes video just hangs and audio keeps playing. Sometimes app won't play video and keeps saying that app is not connected to internet.
Terrible app, with lot of room for improvement
Inspite of the vast, decent collection of movies and TV shows, one cannot ignore that the app is full of bugs, or can be improved feature-wise.
Say, I am unable to change the Download quality of the videos under the settings option, it is just stuck on High. Downloads should be available as a button on main screen, not under the hamburger menu.
Storage space management is terrible: even after deleting videos from the app, I can see them taking up space if I check in (iPad) settings > iPad storage. The only option I see to free that space is uninstall and reinstall the app. Have reported the issue many months back, but don’t see it resolved yet in any of the updates.
If you minimise the app (or switch to other app) while a video is downloading, the download fails many a times. Some other times, the app closes itself and this occasionally creates the ghost files (videos not available in app > downloads, but can be seen taking space in iPad settings).
There is not much you can customise about the subtitles, like changing color, or reducing size etc.
Great shows, terrible app
I’ve been too detached to write a review before, but I’m finally doing this in the desperate hope that I’ll have a better experience.
Current issues that are driving me nuts:
1) Can’t stay signed in to the app on phone/apple tv- Keep us logged in, gosh
2) a)with the new update, it asks you to sign in with phone, which I can’t
b) with the email option for the sign in, it doesn’t let me proceed after entering the email id and password. Let me explain this further
- The screen appears to freeze.
The keyboard conceals the continue button. Keyboard doesn’t recede after information is entered/tapping outside the fields or keyboard doesn’t trigger keyboard receding/pressing enter or return doesn’t help/switching off portrait lock and using the app in landscape doesn’t even turn the display.
Hopefully I didn’t miss anything.
I hate talking just about the negatives that are troubling me, so I would like to mention some things I enjoy about the app. As I wrote in the title, I really enjoy the range of media available for the consumers and the system of showing highlights and broadcasting sports and the news. Many of the shows I enjoy are exclusive to this app.
I hope you understand my frustration given how much I look forward to using the app, and how many hurdles I face for the simple matter of a moment’s entertainment.
